Black Light Tour
 There are other fluorescent minerals here, too, including feldspar that glows pink to red, mangan-apatite that glows cream to orange, and a rare phosphorescent blue mineral which, so far, has not been identified. Here are some of the world’s largest deposits of Hyalite Opal, and the only known underground Hyalite Opal deposits open to the public. The black light tours are only offered on Friday and Saturday nights from May 1st through October 31st. Reservations are not required but are recommended. The tour is a guided tour, led by one of our professional staff. We provide the special lights, flashlights, and safety glasses. You provide comfortable walking shoes and a curiosity for unique experiences. It is necessary to have complete darkness for the tour, and the beginning time will vary through the season, as darkness times vary. It’s a good idea to call ahead to verify the current tour time. Basically, the gates open at sunset and the tour begins at dark. Actual tour times can vary from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, being latest in June and earliest in October. Tours last from 30 to 45 minutes and you can browse our shop and displays before the tour. Cost of the tour is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students and senior citizens (60+). Tours are generally conducted regardless of the weather, but could be suspended for lightning or extremely poor conditions. It never rains in the mine, but it might be wet going into the mine, so bring an umbrella in rainy weather. A light jacket is always a good idea.
