Emerald Village is 3 miles from the Little Switzerland exit on the Blue Ridge Parkway (milepost 334). When you exit the Parkway at Little Switzerland, be sure to loop around and go back underneath the Parkway. After one mile, take the first paved left (McKinney Mine Road). Follow it for 2 miles (passing imitation “mine” on left) and look for us on the right. Don’t stop until you see the giant mines!

Directions

Although we are just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Parkway may not be the shortest way to get to us. A few simple guidelines are:

Continue on US19E about 10 more miles and turn right on Crabtree Road (at the Yancey/Mitchell county line). Follow Crabtree Road about 5 miles and turn left into Emerald Village on McKinney Mine Road.

FROM BOONE & BLOWING ROCK (about 45 miles) - Take the Blue Ridge Parkway south to the Little Switzerland exit (milepost 334) and loop back around underneath the Parkway on Chestnut Grove Road. Go one mile and turn left on McKinney Mine Road. Go 2 miles (passing imitation “mine” on left) to Emerald Village on the right at the big mines.

FROM THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY (3 miles) - Take the Little Switzerland exit (milepost 334) and loop back around underneath the Parkway on Chestnut Grove Road. Go one mile and turn left on McKinney Mine Road. Go 2 miles (passing imitation “mine” on left) to Emerald Village on the right at the big mines.

FROM I-40 IN MARION (about 40 minutes) – Take Exit 86 (NC 226) and go North about 12 miles, then turn left on NC 226. Go 1 mile and turn right on NC 226. Go 4 miles up the mountain, turn right under Parkway bridge and immediate right again to get on Blue Ridge Parkway. Go right (South) on Parkway 3 miles and take the Little Switzerland exit (milepost 334). Loop back around underneath the Parkway on Chestnut Grove Road. Go one mile and turn left on McKinney Mine Road. Go 2 miles (passing imitation “mine” on left) to Emerald Village on the right at the big mines.

FROM US19E (5 miles) – Follow US19E about 10 miles east of Burnsville or about 4 miles west of Spruce Pine. At the Yancey/Mitchell county line turn right (from Burnsville) or left (from Spruce Pine) and go south on Crabtree Road. Follow Crabtree Road about 5 miles and turn left into Emerald Village on McKinney Mine Road.
